"were Christians and many Catholics... " So what? They had that in common with most Americans and Europeans of the era. Hitler also liked to paint. He liked the dramatic theater, stories of Knights, and Cowboys and Indians, pagan myths. Sounds very ordinary. I like to be entertained by those things too. He was by most accounts a fanatical extremist, an amoral character, vindictive and vengeful, devoid of mercy and without a conscience for the harm that he would bring to others. He had no ability to respect the reality of human existence when juxtaposed with his preconceived prejudices. In the end he had so limited his capacity to adjust, renew and grow that his condition resulted in severing his contact with reality and ultimately led to his demise. This distinguishes him from the character and personality of the community of modern day Christians (with a few noted exceptions, Greg o re for example).
