Whatever happens...We as a country owe Gen McCrystal and Gen Petraeus a huge "Thank You for Your Service"!! Both of them have spent years in godforsaken countries, have had to deal with politicians and homegrown and foreign diplomats of every stripe (including yellow and otherwise), have tried to rid both countries of Al-Qaida, terrorists and Taliban, and in both cases, have had to deal with ROE that are completely insane. If we had the current ROE for WWII, we would NEVER have won, and would NOT have defeated Hitler, nor the Japanese. An even bigger THANK YOU should go to our Military Men and Women! They have had to put up with all of the above, but haven't been in the spotlight. Unless of course, some President and/or Congressman/Congresswoman decided he/she needed a "spot" more publicity, then had dozens of them grouped around the podium for PR purposes. Honestly, I can't fathom how any of them have put up with these shenigans for so long.
