It is hard to talk aboput this disaster in the Gulf without straying into politics. I think it is too bad that--unlike Teddy Roosevelt--Obama has no direct personal attachment to the American Landscape/Seascape/Blue Heavens Above. He's an urban/academic politician and will respond to urban/academic pressures. Not a great man, but if we put the right pressures on him, we can make his presidency great. I frankly do not care if we cut the pensions of British citizens by 10% by sticking it to BP. They messed up and they must clean up.
