Friday November 7 8:50 AM EST U.S. CPI overestimates actual inflation--Greenspan WASHINGTON, Nov 7 (Reuters) - Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan said on Friday central bank research suggested that the U.S. consumer price index (CPI) overstates the nation's actual inflation rate by about one percentage point. The U.S. central bank chief warned that measuring prices properly had become a crucial challenge now that major industrial nations were ''moving toward price deflation.''
