Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan said on Friday central bank research suggested that the U.S. consumer price index (CPI) overstates the nation's actual inflation rate by about one percentage point. The U.S. central bank chief warned that measuring prices properly had become a crucial challenge now that major industrial nations were ''moving toward price deflation.'' Zeuspaul, Everyone - As you can see, the Webmistress has been kind enough to alter the threads header, at my request. Please accept my sincere apologies for my disruptions to the thread, which I personally found somewhat of an embarrasment. For better or worse, I felt an obligation to address this issue, which had become source of contention on the thread. And having done so, I felt it only fair that the guideline be applied consistently. Zeuspaul, contrary to what you appear to think, I viewed my involvement in this matter as a source of displeasure, and now that the header has been altered, I consider it at an end. Most assuredly, I have never had the slightest interest in "owning" this topic, and the thread will do with it as it will, without my guidance. Best regards to All - Tom
