Kevin Rudd is one of the more disingenuous, flip-flopping, self-serving, and economically incompetent politicians I've come across in quite a while. (And that says a lot!)

His proposed "Super Profits Tax" (of a full 40% levied on all profits in excess of a 6% rate of return in the resource industry --- and ON TOP of regular corporate taxes, provincial taxes, etc.) was one of the more IDIOTIC PROPOSALS I've ever had spoil my morning's digestion as I slogged through a full reading of it's carefully-crafted and mind-numbing idiocy.

I never thought that I would see economic idiocy and outright lies about FACTS of such a magnitude as to actually *exceed* the economic idiocy and corrupt dealing of Jim Flaherty's "Halloween Massacre" in Canada a few years back but Rudd cleared the mark without hardly even trying with his "Super Profits" BS! It would have pushed their taxes on this important sector to the HIGHEST IN THE WORLD and moved vast investments out of Australia....

But your article's headline of "Aussie Socialism Out" seems MORE THEN JUST A BIT RIDICULOUS and ILL-INFORMED since the Labor Party PM was simply replaced with another (more popular than he) Labor PM by his own party.

So the exact same political party is still ruling. <GGG>

(However elections are likely to be called for this Fall.)
