The majority of Japanese were Shinto then. Pol Pot studied at a Buddhist monastery for one year, but never claimed to be a Buddhist after. He killed Buddhists by the millions. He was anti-religion.

Your "knowledge" seems pretty shallow, and suspect. You've got Google right there - try using it.

Finding very difficult on your linking of Buddhism to Pol Pot. Did you mean his victims were buddhists?
Also Japanese were not wearing their Buddhism on their sleeves while fighting nor the religion was the caause to the extent I know.
