The indigenous bacteria in the Gulf is already depleting oxygen levels below that which can adequately sustain much marine life. Live culture bacteria from BioWorld and Sarva Bio Remed would speed-up this process and deplete oxygen levels more thoroughly. While this is safe and useful in an enclosed aerated pond in a refinery, to destroy oil run-off from rains, it would achieve a more thorough wildlife kill-off in the open Gulf - making the disaster worse. Microsorb's "Oppenheimer culture" has a different problem as it was delisted as an approved product by the EPA in 1991. epa.gov .
