The abundance of the oceans is incomprehensible to most. Anyone who has sailed has a clue to this. But Environmentalists are of those who can only think in microcosms. One turtle dies from oil slick = all turtles are dying from the oil.

The worse suffering from this is borne by the people who generate their livelihood from the areas where the spill does reach land. They, not the turtles, are finished in economic terms. They could move, but some are tied to closely to that area.
