Created an image of my ide/ata drive and put it on an external USB drive. Took about an hour. Verified it.

Created an Acronis boot CD.

Removed drive and installed a SATA 320G drive.

Booted from Acronis CD.

Installed image onto new drive. Took about 3 hours, I let it run overnight.

Rebooted and changed bios to boot from SATA drive.

All appears well.....

I'm running dual boot Ubuntu/WindowsXP with the Ubuntu GRUB2 bootloader.

fwiw I used the Acronis that came with the Seagate SATA drive. Haven't tried the new one I bought Friday.
