Actually, the judge owned an immaterial amount of Exxon (about $15K/worth) which was SOLD before the hearing.

I read he bought in Dec 2009 at approx $41 a share and maybe sold them for about $42 so he probably netted an entire dollar a share or about $400 if he had 400 shares or $15K worth.

Yeah - risk career, fight president of USA for $400 - good plan - totally believable motivation. :-)
