A Historic Year

Now that Democrats have agreed on a Wall Street reform bill, President Obama is set to have an incredible year of accomplishments. He's already signed major health care reforms into law and is more than likely to have energy/climate change legislation on his desk later this year. Not since FDR has a president done so much to transform the country.

First Read: "The agreement -- and the likelihood that Obama will sign it into law -- is yet another reminder about how much the White House and the Democrat-controlled Congress have done in the past year and a half (stimulus, health care, Wall Street reform, perhaps energy). You can't say this is a Do-Nothing Congress; Then again, Republicans would argue it's a Do-Too-Much Congress."

Mike Allen: "Two legs of the triple crown: This means President Obama will sign health reform and Wall Street reform within four months of each other. Plus there's the likelihood he'll get some sort of energy-climate bill by year's end -- an astounding year."

I don't know, but Nelson alway struck me as a very sober guy. I have felt from the first week that people were not acting fast enough, or understood the magnitude of the problem.

Why would you not find out the facts instead of assuming the worst? That's what I find most disingenuous about your rants.

Those skimmers are placed in ports all over the country in case of oil spills in those ports or their surrounding areas. Federal and state regulations require that those skimmers remain in those ports. Now, like any regulations, they can be overridden but as I reminded you in another post, Obama is president of 50 states, not just ones in the Gulf area. And while the need for those skimmers is low, Murphy's Law dictates that as soon as he moved those skimmers to the Gulf, some oil tanker would crack a hull in Long Beach harbor or some oil rig sould start leaking in the Santa Barbara Channel. So wisely the Obama administration found other sources for those skimmers.
