Very true. I don't so much pay attention to the absolute level of the WLI. I think what is more important is what direction it is moving in, how long it has been moving in that direction, and how fast it is moving in that direction (2nd derivative). So currently, it is moving down and has been for a couple months, and it's been moving down fast. That tells you all you need to know about where the economy is headed. We have an imminent slowdown dead ahead. So what happens when the markets are not anticipating a significant slowdown? You can profit from that knowledge.
