FTC recently proposing a “Drudge Tax” that would force independent media organizations to pay fees that would be used to fund mainstream newspapers.

How can they be "mainstream" if they have to be funded through government imposed taxes and fees?? Just call them government rags and be done with it. Communication vehicles of the Ministry of Truth.

That may just be the most communist thing the US (United Socialists) government has ever tried to do. Then again, it's pretty much par for the course with the current crop of brain dead Senators.

They will claim it will never need to be used but will try to grab the power anyways.

This is what I would have bolded:

"fears surrounding cybersecurity have been hyped to mask the real agenda behind the bill, which is to strangle the runaway growth of alternative and independent media outlets which are exposing government atrocities, cover-ups and cronyism like never before."

The Senate realizes that, because of the internet, people are beginning to realize that incompetent jackasses are making most of the decisions, like what laws should be created.

Can't get rid of him for two more years either. Can only hope he keels over on his own.

Don't know anything about that bill, but I could see where it could be necessary. We have become vulnerable through neglect.

Our time would have been much better spent working on the internet and checking China then fighting those two brush fires in Iraq and Afghanistan, IMO.

Here is the scenario: If China, Russia or India invents a quantum computer before the west, a quantum computer will be able to blow through any encryption we can devise. So our entire military and financial networks could be at risk.

The solution to this problem of quantum computers is for us to develop quantum encryption before anyone develops fully functioning quantum computers, as even a quantum computer cannot break into quantum encryption.

The reason is that any attempt to break into any sort of quantum encryption, of any kind whatsoever, will immediately collaps the superposition (quantum wave state) and prevent any intrusion. It is 100% failsafe, but until then.
