John;

Take a look and let me know where we disagree.

Well to be sure even though I am hard on Krugman I think you and I agree on a lot more than we disagree. Before mentioning where we do disagree, let me say that I think Katelew's analysis is spot on. That Obama needs to focus on one thing - get off television so when he does have something important to say it doesn't get lost in his daily walk before the camera.

As to where we disagree; I believe you think we can grow our way out of this depression without risk - whereas I believe only time to deleverage will result in meaningful improvement. Sooooo, as we stimulate continuously it prevents the deleveraging from taking place that would lead to a real lasting economic strength - thus even after so many stimulus no improvement. ..........We largely agree on military spending although in cutting it in half I think I am even more drastic than you are. Even though I don't think we can stimulate our way out I do believe the government has a role in providing jobs. Every opportunity should be looked at to redirect the money saved from the military - not to stimulate but to build for the future. You might not see a difference - I do. The difference is this; no unemployment, no bailout to the States - excuse me, NO bailout to the states, no increase in government size - but instead infrastructure, scientific research and energy independence. Those things that increase the strength of America and benefit future Americans. Nuanced differences - but very real.
