Sill very long IOM but did just sell my margin shares. Made a profit but not as much as I would have liked. No sense getting greedy with the volitility of late.

don't know if anyone noticed why Japan's market was down according to DowJones. a story was printed in the financial times there that a large bank was going to start selling more of its assets. the bank immediately denied the rumor, but appartently the market didn't believe the banks denial and began selling issues. so the fall was based on rumor, not any verifiable facts which has been typical of late

and here we are shaving billions off the US market because a reporter in Japan wrote a story based on a rumor. this happened in December of last year as well

Markas,

You may be 'right on' the mark. There is a trough in the chart around the $25 point. AND the chart only shows the conditions as of the date of the data that went into the chart. News and world events always add their own 'swing' on final price. Last weeks gyrations really messed up all the point and figure patterns... not necessarily turning them good or bad... just messing them up with the wildly discontinuous nature of the swings. :-)
