General McChrystal's presentation to Nato defence ministers and Isaf representatives provided an uncompromising obstacle to Mr Obama's plan to bring troops home in time to give him a shot at a second term, according to senior military sources. The general was judged to be "off message" in his warning to ministers not to expect quick results and that they were facing a "resilient and growing insurgency".

If the insurgency has grown more resilient, then his strategy was failing. No matter how you slice it he wasn't cutting the mustard.

And frankly, we need to get out of Afghanistan........the sooner the better. No one ever wins in Afghanistan.

One other thing about McCrystal. This business that he some healthy guy because he eats only one meal per day and sleeps only 4 hours per nite is a bunch of BS. Rather, it suggests a guy who has an eating disorder and insomnia problems. And he looks it.......I thought the guy was in his 60s; instead he's in his 50s. And what can you expect from someone's judgement when they only get 4 hours sleep per nite.
