I hope so, since it is broadcast to everyone freely, and not private, it is not protected.

You havn't a clue as to what the issue was. The issue was tapping phone lines, not internet traffic. Specifically phone calls overseas to and from suspected terrorists. Many people think that when a terrorist calls you a citizen, (wrong number?), then the government shouldn't tap the line, and that would be illegal search. But I don't think the courts have supported that.
