It wasn't written that long after Jesus time and is based on eyewitness testimony. The idea it was written many generations later based on folktales is nonsense made up a century or more ago.

Come on, Brumar, you give me title of books that claim otherwise. Now I am supposed to respond......yes, you're right and I was wrong. Come on.

The first scriptures, were letters written by Peter and other apostles. They were written just a few years ago. The gospels were much later. The Gospels were almost not part of the bible. For example the Passion of Christ differs from Peters testimony that Jesus was hung from a tree. Likely Jesus carried a large pole that he was strapped or nailed to and then hung from a tree for display. They did not hang people from the neck.
