Ted, > Why? Because Scott Brown doesn't think banks should pay for their regulation. He wants the American taxpayers to pay. That's it? And I thought it was because Republicans just don't like regulation, period. Very true. He was the exception......most of the other Rs are voting 'no'. Why did he walk? Because he wanted certain MASS financial firms to be exempt from the fees. When that didn't happen, he pulled his vote. I'm kind of surprised that the Democrats don't have enough votes. I figured there should be at least a few Republicans that would break party lines and pass a "do something" bill. I have no freakin' clue whether the bill actually does anything or not, but I bet neither does the vast majority of Congress. As it stands I think there are only 2 Rs voting for the bill. The Dems working on the bill have worked their asses off to get it to a vote. And it is a good bill. Some reformers think it doesn't go far enough but that's always going to be the case. I guess the death of Robert Byrd is doing to financial reform what Ted Kennedy's death did to Obamacare. Throw a wrench into the liberal agenda. How many other old and rickety Dem senators need to be kept on life support? Huh?
