One problem with Salazar is that he was always a big supporter of increased offshore drilling (even when he was in the Senate)...that's not the kind of person who should be in charge of the department that regulates offshore drilling policies and permits...way too many environmental exemptions have been given out while Salazar has been running Interior...Yes, we'll have offshore drilling BUT I want someone running the department who will be very tough on the oil industry -- ask all the difficult questions up front and operate under the TRUST BUT VERIFY policy...and BP should never have been given a permit to drill at the Macondo well site given BP's terrible safety track record in North America (but nobody in government seemed to be concerned about that).
