If you really believe what you wrote, I suggest adding a curve for interest rates to your chart from '51 to '80 and perhaps you'll understand stupid:

As a consequence, the more debt that's created, the lower interest rates go.

Please note that per your graph debt was flat for that period, so per your logic, interest rates should have been flat as well.
