The Russians have said they may roll-up a US illegal spy ring or two in response. Let’s hope not. US hardliners want at least another Cold War, just like Truman. Spy hysteria helps.

"Hardliners".... I guess he means the President and Justice, for this would not happen without their nod... but with Rockwell one never knows.

I noticed in one of the articles that they are indicted for being agents of a foreign government, which carries a term of 5 years. However, they also got some of them on "money laundering" - and this may fetch 20 years. So, we try spies for general criminal activity. Did they do much of anything in their capacity as spies? Or not? Just curious.

And again, why now? Do we need to show that our Prez is capable of flexing muscles? I thought everyone was so happy recently that the Russians joined us in sanctions against Iran - what happened now, have they abandoned us? Or, have they joined too enthusiastically? Do we need to distract attention from a buildup against Iran - or, to the contrary, do we need a distraction from not doing anything about Iran?

Etc., etc. This spy story, imo, brings up far more questions than it answers.
