that's the problem with libertopia (libertarian utopia). As a philosophy it works just as long as everyone buys into it and respects it. Just like the liberal passive approach would work if everyone just agreed to get along and only took as much as they needed and gave generously to their neighbor. But the fact is, we are dealing with people who have a wide variety of beliefs and values. And many of those people would think nothing of taking your job, taking welfare, or leeching off of the system or flat out stealing your possessions. Therefore, we need fences on our borders just like we need locks on the front doors of our homes.

so philosophically I love the idea of open borders. Realistically we should do everything we can to seal the border so we can protect what we have. The people on the other side of the border have every right to make their own constitutional republic that gives them a prosperous society. Then maybe they will want to protect the border from their side.
