The Soviets are in Cuba and Venezuela...so is North Korea....

I recall playing cat and mouse with the Soviet Navy in 1970 and 1971 while a Marine on ship in a convoy. So many humorous things occurred. Even on alerts. During replenishment at sea, ships in convoy run lifeguard duty behind ships being replenished by tenders and air. We were a ship short so to speak so a Soviet ship ran lifeguard.

I can remember Russian subs surfacing beside us and then two US subs surfacing on each side of the Soviet sub. All very dramatic to see right within a military convoy.

We searched for a Soviet sailor who fell overboard for two days along with the Soviets. All this was in the Mediteranean. We had many chess matches near North Africa. ;^)
