Well first they should be trusted because they aren't the same people, as in the old govt got tossed out or maybe there was a revolution or a civil war broke up the country into blue states and red states. Who exactly owns a "country's" credit report? Is it the population? I'd say no, where is my signature on the defaulted notes? I'm being pretty fecetious here, but the real answer is the Government responsible and nobody else...seems to me if the minor crime of running a red light is a crime with at least a $50 dollar punishment, how can bankrupting a country through reckless spending and a default not be criminalized...I mean these guys ruin a country but the punishment is less than a red light ticket...so in the scheme of things I guess running a red light is worse than bankrupting a country. What really gets me though is the Govt punishes the people who are actually prepared in advance for a default by making holdings in foreign currencies illegal, transactions in foreign currencies illegal, posession of gold and/or silver illegal, bartering illegal and on and on.
