After watching portions of the confirmation hearings I'm much more optimistic. I think that the way she handled the questions showed that she's a very good thinker with a logical and practical mind and she may be a jurist who leaves a trail of wisdoms. You and I see the same thing. As for my preferences, I would have preferred a Lawrence Tribe type but my guess is she is the best that could be confirmed. She has to get enough Rep votes to avoid the curse of the super majority world the Reps have imposed on us. (Incidentally, I saw something yesterday that Biden told a group that he personally knows of seven senior GOP senators who have been threatened with loss of senior committee positions if they don't support filibusters. That's the problem right now.) She will definitely be a force. And we can only hope she will be at least as progressive as Stevens, which ain't a great deal.
