I see some positive signs....like the articles recently on some older baby boomers who will never put their money in the stock market again....after losing hundreds of thousands....first in the dotcom bubble....then in the real estate bubble.
Main street should be more important than wall street....like it used to be when we were the envy of the world.
Debt bubbles are nothing to screw around with. This is going to be painful, IMO.
Confidence and sentiment are very bad.
There has been NO change, IMO.
It's all too far gone.
I just prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
Sorry, I can't sugar-coat it in any way.

Currencies are spinning out of control. The euro and the dollar are like hot potatoes.
Jumping into the dollar and out of the euro...is like jumping off the titanic and into the lusitania for a ride....and vice-versa. (celente)

>>>an incredible number of young people...that know what is going on<<<

OK. I am inspired to write a philosophical piece. Several brain jolts that set me off:

1) McChrystal (sp?) getting the boot for fornicating with Rolling Stone, and

2) Watching Alice in Wonderland on NetFlix last night.

I was a tadpole in the '60s. I remember reading stories about Viet Nam in the newspapers we used to cover the desks when we worked with clay in third grade arts and crafts class. Lunar new year offensive??? Tet??? Mai Lai??? Never sounded too good to me.

So I am watching Patraeus take over. And I am hearing things like...we need to stay just long enough to get the Afghans trained up. And maybe it isn't going so well. And maybe it needs to be reevaluated.....after Obama spent about four months refusing to act until he had a well though tout master plan. Then I sort of remembered something in my "Weekly Reader" about VietNaminization. You know...we really didn't want to be there. And they really didn't want us there. We were just going to train the Viet Namese troops so they could fight on their own because they loved democracy and were deserving. All just like...Afghanistan today. Just one more push and we will be over the top.

So there goes Alice down the rabbit hole. Of course I immediately think of Grace Slick....

youtube.com

And I remember Mom being really POed about some Harvard whack job named Timothy Leary and something I didn't understand called LSD. And I remember Grace Slick being interviewed on the Dick Cavet show and telling how her Finch College classmate, Tricia Nixon, had invited her to some shower on the White House lawn - because she invited all the class, and didn't know how Grace had mushroomed. As I recall, after presenting her invitation at the gate she got well onto the White House grounds before the Secret Service realized who she was and in fact was about #5 on the list of people who could never come into the grounds. What good times.

So then I remember the wisdom of Kurt Vonnegut:

'True terror is waking up one morning and realizing that your high school classmates are running the country.'

And I think about Viet Nam, and the protests and the fact that those who were protesting and doing acid are now in charge, and other than protesting, weren't really paying attention because they are doing the exact same thing right now - down to fighting ridiculous wars in ridiculous fashions and printing money to finance same.

Hey!!!

Remember what the door mouse said. Feed your head.
