I try to remember, not always successfully, these public threads are relatively permanent records and that ill concieved statements or tantrums could be brought up at any time in the future to be held against a poster. It's hard not to get caught up in the flames of some of these emotional confrontations, and when you do it is very character defining. Roosevelt had some good advice: "No man can lead a public career really worth the leading, no man can act with rugged independence, nor strike at great abuses, nor afford to make powerful and unscrupulous foes, if he himself is vulnerable in his private character."
