Their goose is cooked; Canada geese gassed by Oregon community By: The Canadian Press BEND, Ore. - An Oregon community has killed off 109 Canada geese that officials say were becoming a nuisance. Officials in Bend used carbon dioxide gas to euthanize the birds this week so their meat would still be safe to be consumed by humans. The Bend Metro Park and Recreation District complained the goose population was getting out of control. The birds would not migrate and their droppings were causing problems at local parks. The goose meat has been donated to emergency food sites. A spokesperson for the community group that distributed the meat says nobody will be forced to eat wild goose meat, but expects many people will be pleased to consume it. winnipegfreepress.com
