(Aside perhaps from some small-scale trials in Japan a few years ago), I believe it had largely only been theorized about. That is until 2008 and 2009 when the US Federal Reserve bought some trillion and a half of treasury bonds and mortgage-backed bonds to staunch the collapse into Depression and the near total shutdown of US housing markets....
