We all know how strict the Republicans were about pay-go when they ran Congress and the White House. Real pit bulls on the issue, they never flinched one millimeter when confronted with demands for unfunded spending then......

John, I think the Rs asked for the bill to be paid for from the beginning. Not sure that the article coming from the Washington Examiner has anything to do with anything.

I agree, Kate, but, best I can tell, the new thing in that article was Voinovich saying he would compromise if some of it was paid for. The problem with the Washington Examiner is they likely took it out of context, but more important, since the history of individual Reps proposing something and their leadership saying they cannot go there is huge, that's the more important item here.

That the Examiner didn't deal with that is an indication of nonserious stuff.
