You are right. I answered that badly. And I agree with you about lobbying. But the lobbyists pay for a lot of the contributions. They buy meals and anything else congress people and legislators want. They have bought me lots of meals.

The sad fact is that negative campaigning works. People believe even the most bold faced lies, and respond to character assination. Now the supreme court has allowed the corporations to spend huge amoutns of money to hire people to trick the people. And they do it well.

And the problem is manifest, in the fact that bad guys have no compunction about lying and cheating. Good guys do not feel comfortable about doing that.

Corporations are sociopathic by nature, so they now have the right to spend ungodly amounts of money to hire unscrupulous people to creat bold faced lies to smear good people who run for office that are honest.

It happened to me. I won the primary 2 to 1 against my opponent (debate I had little money). I live in a big oil state where over a dozen legislators have been indicted or jailed for bribary in the last decade.

I would take no pac money from the oil companies and so they poured huge amounts of money into my opponts campign. They wanted a leglator they could control.

They hired private detectives to go see my ex wife in another state looking for dirt on me.

My ex told them I was great and to fuck off-lol. Her husband was speaker of our house once and she was the first chairwoman of the Womens commission.

Very bad decision for our democracy, giving even more power to the rich via corporations to screw us over even more e.g. AIG and the Wall street bail out.
