To this day, I am stunned that the propaganda machine run by the Republican party was able to trash Kerry.

A genuine war hero, who (despite having the kind of political connections that would have let hime dodge the draft like Bush and Clinton did) fought in some of the most dangerous parts of the war.

And he was defeated by a draft dodger on the basis of their respective military records!

One of the most amazing events in the history of propaganda, it's chronicled on wikipedia.

en.wikipedia.org

Kerry was a wooden speaker, stupidly ruined himself by testifying to congress that some nasty stuff happens during war time (duh!), and was far less personally likeable than Bush. But this stunt was incredible - kudos to the advertising wizards who managed to pull that one off. Probably the same guys who used to put doctors in TV commercials explaining they smoked cigarettes for the health benefits...

Of course, it put Bush in the white house, which may yet end up destroying modern civilization, but still - what an ad campaign!

"You never mention that Bush's opposition the second time around was JOHN F KERRY!"

I've heard this ridiculous excuse from Bush voters over and over.

Do you REALLY think Kerry (who I supported, gave money to and even went and worked a week on a phone bank in another state for - but NEVER liked. ), would have been worse than the worst president in my lifetime?

It earns you no absolution.

interesting interview with oliver stone on his new film south of the border...

democracynow.org

i'm not one to fall for the "good government" routine as they almost always turn out badly, i have little doubt that they people are doing better than under the IMF / American empire's WMD (weapons of mass debt) vice grip.

i also agree completely with stone as to who killed kennedy and why.

i'm also right with them on the american corporate media spewing non stop propaganda completely disconnected from reality.

there are audio and video options.
