Bert, I think you are right and wrong. Of course, drive makers will be putting what pressure they can to lower prices, but that never changes, even in good times. Head prices will move on supply/demand.

Hopefully, you are not confused like many people and think RDRT and APM are the only suppliers. They face price competition from many good companies who don't report on the US market, as well as IBM and vertically integrated supply.

Component suppliers can at least be thankful that they don't see reduced unit volume. If and when the inventory is reduced, they could have reasonably nice sales. With WDC dropping APM's high end TFI head in favor of MR probably from RDRT, it poses and interesting situation. If RDRT was able to get very good yields as they have in the past, maybe this would be a good thing for them?

Only the paranoid survive and I would think head suppliers would be more paranoid than most.
