Sony still owns ETAK, a company that has the digital database of United States. I will not assume that they are getting out of this market unless I hear them reduce their stake in ETAK. Another possibility is that ETAK is probably their best asset in this business. If Sony gets out of selling a competing unit in the market, they could license ETAK's database (recurring revenues) to other vendors in the US market. They can still sell the complete navigation unit in Japan. Navigation Technologies has recently won some alliances (GM Onstar and others) that may be bothering Sony. Arun
