Much, much better assessment of Spain from an ESPN analyst:

"The goal kings of the tournament are the Germans, whose success has been delivered via a simplicity of approach that is almost opposite to Spain's overly finicky football, which is yet to break into anything approaching a free flow. Yet the Spanish may have the ability to frustrate with their patience in possession, just as they did after taking the lead in the Euro 2008 final. Expect history to repeat itself here."

So far, most of Germany's opponents have conceded midfield via formation (see Zonal Marking). Spain is the dominant midfield team in this entire Cup. So that's shapes up to be an epic battle. Rumor has Torres on the bench for this game, great news for Spain. I'm not sure why the media refuses to report that he is playing injured.

This is unofficial. I'd like to see an official tally somewhere:

All-Time World Cup Goals Scored / Country

221 / Brazil
220 / Germany
131 / Argentina
128 / Italy
