Dave,

It is a bit of each. IMHO, Capex by semis had gotten a bit overexuberant on the high side of the trendline and is now reverting back to trend (though it is likely to overshoot a bit on the low side).

For what its worth I can give provide some insight on LSI from a completely different standpoint than normally seen on this thread........

One of the many hats I wear is involvement in the commercial construction industry. Our major clients include AMAT, ORCL and at one time LSI. Early last year LSI shelved plans for up to four new buildings in Fremont, Ca. As a matter of fact one was completely built and sat vacant for some time until AVANT! took it over. That is a very uncommon occurance in my industry.

I don't follow LSI very closely to tell whether those problems last year are behind them, but I don't think I would judge them as any sort of trend setter. They've been struggling a while now.

Does anyone know what Carl Johnson thinks AMAT's CC will hold?

Thanks
