Just commute at worst, it's only a few hours' drive on good highway.

(Probably only about an hour's flight to SF as well ... way closer than Mo.)

I'm 4th gen Oregonian, west and sw of Portland. If you're looking down Gold Beach way you should consider Florence.

I have a good friend that lives in Florence and it's quite a nice little town, she loves it. Gold Beach is beautiful, especially for photography. It's smaller than Florence with less amenities but Brookings is not far away.
