There's a LOT of talk about deficits NOW, but back in 1980 nobody could have imagined the type of deficits we'd be running at this point. The guy that STARTED this "borrow and spend" FIASCO was Reagan. That guy TRIPLED our National Debt in 8 years and made it the "mantra" of the Republican Party to NEVER vote for new taxes. This idiocy has "carried on" up till the present as shown by Cheney's comments of just a few years ago of, "Reagan proved that deficits DON'T matter!!!!! If Carter had been reelected we wouldn't have had this deficit MESS and we wouldn't have just thrown TRILLIONS into a National Defense BLACKHOLE.
