"So, the plan is we are going to wait for the "free market" to fix the problem?"

why not? the market will fix everything whether we like it or not. it can't be stopped, only distorted for a while. or said a little differently, lack of a market will make a market. it's the same as 'the cure for high prices is high prices'. the market will exert itself one way or another.

what have the bailouts and 'stimulus' done for home prices? nothing but prolong the pain, as prices are going down again. nothing can be effectively done to stop it. plenty can be done to ineffectively stop it. temporary blips in prices mean nothing to the trend. and the trend continues down.

when enough jobs have been destroyed by this dumbass administration that revenues for the government dry up and can no longer be supported, then the market will have fixed another socialist system because it destroys it.

life would be much easier if blind politicians could see that the market cannot be stopped. it can only be distorted. but it will free itself no matter how long it takes, or how much pain the rest of us have to go through.

if government just gets out of the way the omniscient market punishes the bad actors and rewards the good. then the market naturally builds strength and provides a steadily improving standard of living.

the people that blame free market capitalism for this mess are a joke. government intervention causes the problem and then blind idiots blame it on the 'free' market. of course most people are so illiterate in economics that it's easy to fool them.

and yes, people in power are happy the way things are. they are installing the socialist policies they've been wanting and waiting for, for many years. those policies are going to increase the power they wield. they have idiots for constituents. why wouldn't they be happy? but their happiness will end when the market exerts itself on them. and it will bring pain to the rest of us also for being so stupid. we will be punished along with our masters. i imagine that by the end of this, anyone that is found to be still socialist will be lynched with glee from the highest tree. and then we will return to free markets once more until we get fat and lazy, and we forget again..
