There is a difference... When I write about Google, I DISCLOSE I am compensated by them. SeekingAlpha demands that of ALL their writers but I've been doing it since I started to write. Heck, I still disclose that I USED to work for the part of HP that was spun off as Agilent so my views in my newsletter on Agilent MAY be biased.... and I have not worked there in over 12 years! Having a conflict is not unethical. Failing to disclose one IS unethical. Attacking someone asking for you to disclose a conflict of interest is despicable. Brinker didn't come clean on this until Steve Thompson wrote Paul Kangas about it and got him to ask Brinker about the conflict.
