The voters can't even discern the most obvious good, versus bad, politicians.

The best example, IMO, is when George McGovern ran against Richard Nixon:

McGovern was called the most decent man in the senate by Robert Kennedy.

Judge Sirica said Nixon was incapable of telling the truth (sociopaths are pathological liars) and we know how Nixon ended up. He ordered a stupid robbery;

George McGovern was a world war II bomber pilot who flew missions so dangerous most of his squadron were killed.

Nixon did not serve in active military service. Never saw any combat.

McGovern had two PHD's: one in history and one in theology.

The voters voted Nixon over McGovern in 49 out of 50 states.

Only the people of one state could tell that McGvoern was the better and more honest politician.
