Am in nice boutique hotel in Brussels, tapping out this message on iPad enabled by in-room wifi, in bed. Had 6 hours nap even though I slept the entire journey from hong kong (no movies, readings, or meals). Beautiful day here. Waiting to be taken to nice dinner by client. Tomorrow I chat with the strategy committee of the board and then be driven to airport for return journey. I love how the iPad capitalizes in all the right places. I also see my adorable not-yet 6-years young coconut's trail of I-net surfing. She apparently likes YouTube videos on Thai cooking! Daughter scored a whole lot of 6s on a scale of 5 in her just completed 'transition' year. She will start primary one come fall. She is keen on individual sports, know 500 Chinese written characters, tops in math, and adores reading. Other than her Thai food videos and "the magic school bus" series of science-biased DVDs, she does not watch tv. I generally can only focus on one matter at a time on short trips, and so all I am packing is contained in one tumi backpack, including two changes of clothing (no need for change of pants as am wearing the quick drying hiking pants with lots of pocket; wore blazer on plane so no need to pack), iPad, iPhone, blackberry, and ID plus cash. I just read on my just-in in-tray of blackberry that USA shall be blessed with the 'perfect citizen' theregister.co.uk and that it was described by the prime contractor raytheon in internal e-email that "the perfect citizen is big brother". Not good, especially given that NSA and google will doubtlessly have much to do with it. Whatever the wastrels say the program is about must not be taken as true. The perfect citizen in hong kong has multiple passports, is offshore banking enabled, and loves hong kong and all it's freedoms. The perfect hong kong citizen votes with feet and dollars. The authorities of hong kong fear its citizens and is therefore lovingly polite. Cheers, tj
