You're using ancient definitions.... The terms second and third world: " when used today generally denotes countries that have not "developed" to the same levels as OECD countries, and which are thus in the process of "developing". In that sense China has areas of the country that can be defined as 1st, 2nd, or 3rd world... In Eygpt, Cairo and Alexandria I consider to be 2nd world, but outside those cities it is definitely 3rd world... re: "brightest.." I have no problem picking the most extreme religious fanatic on SI....
