In their last earnings conference call they responded to a question about dividends by saying they were holding cash in anticipation of a possible acquisition, or words to that effect. Don't know what that really means and nothing has happened...

On the more general question of dividends, this administration is so desperate to confiscate every cent they can get their hands on that every company needs to reevaluate the wisdom of increasing dividends in this skyrocketing tax environment. Buybacks may make more sense because they raise shareholder equity which can potentially translate to long term gains at a more favorable rate. Not much help for those who rely on dividends to put food on the table. CCs may make good sense for those who expect a stagnant market until a change of administration.
