I don't know we get from oil, but will look into it. point is, though, it's a balancing act. someone from California saying "you deserve it" for pumping gas out of the gulf... well, they don't have the same economic issues, and also... they are benefitting from what we pump. when they stop driving, then I will take them seriously. Mac, I really suggest you look at your politics. I suspect there are a lot of good ole boys with their hands in the till. I once asked someone from the South why TX is doing so much better than LA, MS, Arkansas and ALA. This guy was from LA. He said that TX took its oil money and used it to encourage the growth of other industries. The rest of states made their good ole boys rich. There is a reason why the oil industry got its butt out of NOLA, the Big Easy. In addition, I worked for a company that managed and developed apt. bldgs all over the country. Typically, our southern projects experienced more theft than other projects, and God forbid we did a construction project......one could expect anywhere from 5-10% of the construction budget to be devoted to some sort of theft or kickbacks. And that's saying a lot coming from someone who once lived in LA....not the capital of integrity by a long shot. Certainly, northerners have their biases but the South has squandered a great deal of opportunities. And it certainly has its share of politicians who are on the take and/or crazier than loons and/or racist. At least northern racists know enough to keep their racism on the down low.
