Still reading this rag and not finding much more than I originally mentenioned. The magazine is broken down into a number of different areas of VON i.e Internet telephony, Call switching, Enhanced Services, Virtual Call Centers, Periscope, Testing CT and 4 port CT Card Roundup. Each category describes, with photos and text, the manufacturers product offerings. Some of the text lists more about the products then others. Most list price, some list their test results. The others listed under the Internet Telephony category are: Arbinet, Array Telecom, Clarent (they loved this one), Franklin (WE love this one), Inter-Tel, Linkon, Lucent, Micom, Netrue, Netspeak (they were impressed here also. Their unit has 96 port capability), Networks Telephony, NKO, Selsius Systems, Siemens, TMSI, Vienna Systems and of course Vocaltec. The irony here is in the full page add for Vocaltec. They state it was demonstrated to Harry Newton and he liked it (see my post about 10 back). In the text of the article, describing Vocaltec, they have nothing nice to say: i.e. "Though they were first out of the gate with their voice-over-IP box, Vocaltec's host based processing telephoney Gateway 3.1 has fallen slightly behind the pack at VON". "The sound we got was choppy and noticeably latent. You know your making an Internet call with VocalTec". Of course I only quoted the negative stuff about VocalTec. There were a few positive statements as well. They mentioned they're a great buy with 8 lines for $10,000.00. They also mentioned the major buy-ins by ATT and Deutsche Telecom and they also talked about a new improved product due out the end of the month. Many other interesting articles I still need to read. Too much to type - everyone head over to the local newstand and pick up a copy. Computer Telephony - November 1997. Nuf for now. Pat
