Marc ultra,

I think your "philosophical moment" was very profound. I remember spending many afternoons in the San Jose main library trying to learn about investing.

I did that only because Bob Brinker's Moneytalk was picked up by KGO about 1987 and I started listening to him and learning about no-load funds, etc. From him, I first became aware that it was even possible to "do it yourself."

After I gained enough knowledge, I made the switch from a VERY angry broker at Dean Witter (that's another story) to managing my own investments.

.

Re: "Now we have incredible access to information but get sedentary and fat and unsocial sitting in front of a computer."

True, there's much more information readily accessible. However, the information seems to be much less reliable. In the "old days" (e.g. 10 years ago), while the information may have been harder to come by, it was probably more likely to be correct. Now, it seems that you never really know if what you are reading on the internet is correct.

Best wishes,

I2
