Courtesy of the House of Rasmussen, the voters of Arizona are apparently really eager to redefine citizenship in America (emphasis mine):

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Arizona finds that 64% agree that children born to illegal immigrants should not automatically become citizens of the United States. Twenty-six percent (26%) disagree and say these children should become U.S. citizens.

* * * * *

Eighty-four percent (84%) of Republicans and 58% of voters not affiliated with either major party say children born to illegal immigrants in this country should not automatically become U.S. citizens.


In other Rasmussen polling news, America has spoken: leave the Constitution alone!

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Adults shows that, when asked their views on changing the Constitution, 62% say it should be left alone. Twenty-four percent (24%) believe minor changes are needed, while only seven percent (7%) see a need for major changes.

Crosstabs for this question are behind a subscription wall, but suffice to say, Republicans are more eager to tell folks to keep their hands off of the founding document than anyone else.


Let's recap:

According to the House of Ras, the overwhelming majority of Arizona Republicans want the children of undocumented immigrants not to be declared citizens by virtue of their birth in the United States. Also, the overwhelming majority of Republicans nationally want the Constitution to be left alone.

Amendment 14 - Citizenship Rights

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.

Keep your hands off my Constitution! Unless...y'know...you are fulfilling my political desires, that is.
